EASY and festive dessert for the 4th: Strawberry Shortcake on a Stick.
INGREDIENTS
Store bought or homemade pound cake or angel food cake, cut into cubes
small fresh strawberries (green stems removed)
mid-sized skewers
whipped topping or freshly whipped cream
blueberries, optional
DIRECTIONS
String cake with strawberries onto skewers. Place on a platter and sprinkle with blueberries. Serve with a bowl of whipped cream.
COOK'S NOTE
*I found mid-sized skewers at World Market. Party supply stores may also carry them.
*For sweetened whipped cream: In a medium bowl, whip chilled heavy cream with 1 tablespoon of powdered sugar until thickened and easy to scoop with a spoon.
